About the Developer

Wood Property Development, LC

Alan Wood and the Wood family are an institution in Utah's real estate development community. His father, Robert Wood, co-founded Prowswood with his close high-school friend, Dick Prows.

In his youth Alan often traveled with his father around the country to housing conventions and other trade gatherings. On these trips he and his father closely studied the other towns and cities they visited, often identifying early stages of regional and national trends which were brought home and incorporated into Prowswood’s local operations.

In time, Prowswood became the largest developer of multi-family apartment and condominium communities in the state's history - a record that still stands today.

At the time it was acquired by Boston Financial in 1997, Prowswood had developed over 15,000 residential housing units, including such notable communities as:

  • Three Fountains (the first family condominiums west of the Mississippi)
  • Old Farm
  • Brookstone
  • Cobble Creek
  • Springs of Country Woods

A graduate of the class of '80 at the University of Utah, Bachelors degree in Finance, Alan bridged his passion for development with his strengths in financial analysis to work as Vice President of condominium development with Prowswood Inc. Since that time Wood has served in numerous roles, but his true love remains the development process. From land acquisition to zoning compliance, Alan has proven his abilities over a wide range of projects in his three decades in the business.

Additional residential communities developed by Alan Wood include:

  • Pinehurst, a 174-unit luxury apartment development that still serves as one of high watermarks for luxury apartments in the state
  • Northgate Apartments at The Gateway, a 330-unit project that housed NBC media during the 2002 Olympic Games

Alan's focus since early 2004 has been the condominium project you are now viewing: The Metro Condominiums.
